Dear all,

I have received many warm responses to the attached letter which I sent to theatre groups and friends who are acquainted with the work which Cristina Wistari Formaggia developed with the Balinese Desa Batuan Gambuh Ensemble. Some suggested they would like to help economically. We all have the wish that this ensemble and school can continue so as to preserve the ancient Gambuh tradition which risks disappearing.

As a consequence of these responses Odin Teatret has decided to start a fund in Cristina’s name to gather money to help pay the monthly salaries and expenses. This will be part of the Stanislavski Fonden (a fund to which the Odin actors pay 1% of their salaries in order to support projects around the world) but with separate accounts that we can send to the contributors each year.

We envisage that the costs to be met will be about 20.000 Euro a year. Odin Teatret will support a third. We suggest that each group, institution or person could contribute with the costs of a month’s work, 1,000 Euro a year or simply according to your possibility.
